ObamaCare explains why health care reform is necessary, describes what the new federal law seeks to accomplish, and discusses the range of legal issues that the Supreme Court will have to resolve in evaluating its constitutionality. Despite the complexity of the legal and economic issues that are covered, the book is written in clear, concise language. It presents a volume of information in a compact and readily understandable form.
Part I of the book explains the crisis in health care that America is facing. This portion of book gathers in one place the studies, surveys, and economic reports that bear upon the problem. It is filled with charts and graphs based upon these sources; showing, for example, the rising cost of medical care relative to Americans’ income and the overall health of the American people compared to the people of other countries. Part II describes the PPACA whose idea it was, what the law says, what it seeks to accomplish, and the justifications that Congress wrote into the law itself. Part III discusses the constitutionality of the law what parts of the Constitution are involved, what the legal issues are, what the lower courts decided, and all of the considerations that the Supreme Court is likely to take into account in its final ruling.

The author is clearly a supporter of the European socialistic style of healthcare. While the book offers a good discussion on the constitutionality argument, there is very little concrete discussion on how the ACA will be implemented, paid for, how it will affect insurance costs or improve healthcare. There is basically no discussion on any possible negative effects of the ACA. Of the book's body, only 20% of it discusses the ACA itself, and then, only at a very superficial level. The book's main objectives (given in the first chapter) seems to be to scare the reader about the current U.S. healthcare system by employing a mind numbing number of charts and graphs, and to play the "class" warfare card that the "rich" are somehow to blame for the current healthcare system and costs.Product details

ObamaCare The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act edition by Wilson Huhn Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews
If you have questions about the Affordable Care Act (aka "ObamaCare"), this is a great resource for anyone in the legal field or anyone in the health care field. Very comprehensive. This would also be a great tool about the topic of free speech and commercial speech specifically.
This is not written in "legalese" and is very accessible to non-lawyers.
Clearly biased from the get go. The author keeps drilling on how inferior our medical care is to ones in Europe and how it is all because of wealth disparity in the United States. Innocently blames "the wealthy," who ever that may be, for 80 million uninsured people. It doesn't really explain why the insurance premiums have gone up, beyond bringing up the good old class warfare tactic.
The book reads more like a sales pitch than an actual thorough and unbiased explanation of PPACA.
Finally I understand this complicated and controversial issue. PPACA is explained clearly, giving history, statistics, and development of how it stands today without the persuasions of a political agenda. A must read for everyone needing clarification of the reasons and policies.
an accessible and useful product for anyone interested in the new health care law. Professor Huhn has done his homework and helps us to do ours.
