I Really was suprised I loved it as much as I did...I am a vet tech and hate reading about sad things and things like dog rings make my blood boil! But It was super tastefully done.. only really felt uneasy once while reading but the story was amazing as usual!! This author is awesome and cant wait to hear the rest of the books she comes out with! I do hope that Ahmed is the eye of one of them I love him! That town is amazing, reading these books make me want that believe that town is real and all those people will be waiting for me when I come into town!! You fall in love with all the characters as usual and there's always a twist this book had an awesome twist at the end and I really cant wait for the next one!!! I hope they never end and she writes fast!!!
Wow, just WOW! This book was totally fantastic! Every time I think Kathleen Brooks couldn't possibly top the last book, she goes and proves me wrong. Like the other books in the series before this, this book has it all. There is so much laughter, intrigue, suspense, mystery, lots of scheming, match making, murder, attempted murder, really hot passion, followed by a very sweet romance. What more could anyone ask for? The thing I love about this series, is that you always get to re-unite with the people from the past books, even the quirky ones such as the Rose sisters and the parents of the Davies men. I don't know how she does it, but she has the gift of being able to insert a new character into the mix of previous characters so smoothly, that it seems to all mesh together so seamlessly.

Katelyn Jacks has always had a big crush on Marshall Davies for as long as she can remember. When she spent her summers at her grandparents house, the highlight of her days were watching Marshall plowing the fields, while shirtless and all sweaty like. Too bad he only thought of her as a spoiled little rich girl next door. And besides that....she was also 4-5 years younger than himself.

A few years later Marshall joined the armed service. He became a specialist and was sent over seas on several different missions. When he finally retired from the military, he started his own security business in Lexington, which was only just a few hours away. He missed his family and his home town, so when an opening for a Sheriff's position came open, he immediately sold his company and moved back home again. He ran unopposed for the Sheriff's job, and he was finally happy with his life. That is... until Katelyn reappeared one day and decided to set up her Veterinarian Clinic in town.

After graduating high school, Katelyn Jacks went on to become one of the front and center popular models of the world. While she modeled, she also worked her way through Veterinarian school on her own merits. Yes, her family had oodles of money, but she wasn't about to take the easy way out. She wanted to make something of herself on her own merits without her families help or their money. Besides, her parents didn't want her becoming a Veterinarian in the first place, that kind of thing was considered to be way beneath her families status in life, after all.

Katelyn had always loved living in that small town, but then again... she never had to confront the Keeneston Grapevine! After retiring from the runway and returning to town to open a new animal clinic, Katelyn found that her life in the public eye was anything but over. While working hard to establish herself as the new veterinarian in town, Katelyn finds her life uprooted by a storm of love, gossip, and a vicious group of criminals.

Marshall is the Sheriff in town now, and he is also right at the top of the town's most eligible Bachelor list, while her name was right at the top of the for the most eligible Bachelorette list.

There's no doubt that while they were in the same room together, there was a very strong attraction that was growing very rapidly between the two. And why was it that everyone else in the room could see how the sparks were flying, but not them? In fact it became so unbearably hot some times, that everyone in the room had to start fanning themselves, or they would surely end up dying from pure heat exhaustion.

Attraction or not, Marshall still views Katelyn as the spoiled, air headed, cold hearted rich bitch. He taunts her and makes her life a living hell every chance he gets. He even goes out of his way to make to taunt and tease her. But... Katelyn is so not that person that Marshall thinks she is, not at all. If anything, she's just quiet, shy, withdrawn and scared of her own shadow most of the time.. Her life growing up was not a bed of roses like everyone thinks it was either. No...she was raised mainly by the many nanny's her parents had hired over the years. It was like that right up until she was old enough to be sent off to boarding school. The only love she ever got, was the love and attention her grandparents gave her while she spent her summers with them, when she was much younger. As far as her parents...they had split up long ago and she very rarely ever saw either of them, not even during the holiday breaks at school.

Anyway....things start to heat up even more between the two of them, when they discover that someone is running a dog fighting ring in their county. They soon discover it's not only a dog fighting ring, but they are also dealing in illegal fire arms trade, selling drugs, and selling woman. They do manage to spend a couple of really heated nights together in each others arms, which always ended up having her grandparents witnessing poor Marshall buck naked in the morning, not that her grandmother really minds. LOL! After all she's not dead yet, and she rather enjoys the view. In fact she's been bragging about it all around town. The only two people not getting a kick out of the story going around town like a wild fire, is Marshall and Katelyn.

If I could have rated this book a 10, I would have. It's just that good!

Would I recommend this book? You better believe I would, in a heart beat! Do yourselves a favor right now, download this book and I promise you...you will NOT be sorry you did.
My first by Kathleen Brooks. I thought it sounded interesting and since she is a NY Times Bestselling Author, I gave it a shot. However, I was very disappointed in this book. The story was difficult to follow. The characters’ names were odd. As the story was about dogs, you would think Noodles and Dinky would be dogs and Alice and Bob would be people. Nope. Marshall is a sheriff, Nuggett is a sheriff. Very confusing sometimes.

There was some poor editing too as in one part of the book “…Marshall couldn’t help but smile as a ten-foot barbed wire tail followed behind.” Then the next paragraph started, “He looked around, as the town started to break up and head home…..” You would think it was Marshall but it was Paul, who I think was the town lawyer. It took me a couple of double-takes to figure out who was being referenced and who speaking a few times throughout the book.

If I lived in this town, I would go crazy. Marshall let the whole town run amuck with gossip and interference with both his personal life and investigations. Privacy, respect and basic good manners were not even considered by anyone. No secret was safe and people eavesdropped and gossipped openly. Marshall and Katlyn were interrupted each and every time they had a moment, and they let it happen. Who would walk around naked in someone else's grandparents house? Really sheriff? And whose grandparents would walk into a bedroom without knocking? I'm sure it was meant to be cute and funny but it was very annoying.

This was book 2 in her Bluegrass Undercover series. I have not yet read book one which I have now. I’m hoping for better editing and a little more respect for the characters.
