I'm really enjoying the Lady Emily series. I purchased the first one for Kindle and enjoyed it quite a bit. Then I purchased the first three in paper & ink for my mother-in-law - I was so pleased to discover that Kindle Matchbook would allow me to buy the next two at a reduced rate. I'm back to paying full price for the fourth book in the series, it's waiting on my kindle right now.
This book takes place predominantly in Vienna and I found it to be quite accurate historically. Less emphasis on clothing or art in this mystery and more emphasis on characters and the mystery.

A Fatal Waltz Tasha Alexander 9780061174223 Books Reviews

This is the third book of Tasha Alexander's with her new heroin Lady Emily Ashton. Just like the first two, it was impossible to put down! This is a fabulous tale of mystery and intrigue.

With the death of the hated Lord Fortescue, Lady Ashton is thrown into a danger infested investigation of her own, to free her dear friend Ivy's husband Robert, who was accused and arrested for the murder.

With her childhood friend, Jeremy, who is madly in love with her, and her best friend, Cecile from Paris, Emily searches through Vienna for the answers to the puzzling murder. Of course, her beloved Colin Hargreaves is in Vienna on a mission of his own and is unable to help her much.

You will love this sequel and will not want to put it down. It will leave you hungry for the next book by Tasha! I'd love to hear more about Jeremy, Cecile, Margaret, and Robert's career.

Tasha Alexander captured my attention when I accidentally stumbled upon her first book, 'And Only To Deceive'. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easily I was drawn into the story line. Being it was her first book, I eagerly anticipated her second, 'A Poisoned Season', which I read immediately. Looking forward to seeing how the life of Lady Emily unfolded made me long for her third book, 'A Fatal Waltz'. It did not disappoint!

This series of books takes you on a journey with Lady Emily Ashton, beginning with the death of her husband. After discovering who he 'really' was, and falling in love with him after his death, she had to learn to 'let him go' all over again, but really for the first time. She is aided in this by a close friend of her late husband. As the story progresses, a gentle sense of 'something happening' between them starts to build.

The second book is more about her growing into a new relationship with the dashing, but mysterious Colin Hargreaves, while still solving another mystery, full of murder, conspiracy, and treachery. It leaves you wanting more!

And "A Fatal Waltz" does not disappoint either. Unraveling more than one mystery, Tasha Alexander met all our expectations and more. Who is the bad person or persons? Who will Lady Emily end up with, Jeremy Sheffield or Colin Hargreaves? Who is Colin Hargreaves and what was his relationship with the beautiful Natasha? Does the jewel thief love Lady Emily or is her life in dager? Who is he? Tasha efficiently wraps up all these questions in a fantastic, and romantic ending!

They are all great reads, but this is the best one yet! I do recommend you read the series in order so you can follow the stories.

Now, I am eagerly awaiting her fourth book with Lady Emily Ashton, due to release on September 1! I think it is called "Tears Of A Pearl"?.

I highly recommend this series to everyone! They are clean and very intelligently written.
The Tasha Alexander books are good, but not great. While I find the Lady Emily series readable, and moderately entertaining, none of the plots or characters are particularly memorable. The characters are not well developed other than to have a purpose in moving the plot forward, and are verging on being simply stereotypes created to represent a specific social norm during the time period vs. a fully-developed, layered, nuanced individuals. However, if you are looking for a beach or airplane read, the series might be the ticket for you.
I've loved the Lady Emily series but was a little dissappointed by this book. It seemed a little too much, too unbelievable in some of the things Lady Emily did or got away with. Just like the other books I was easily brought into the time and its characters. I enjoyed how the author had woven into the plot historical events and actual people from that time. However, I got a little annoyed by how easily it seemed she avoided serious harm no matter how dangerous the situation she found herself in. Although, I love Lady Emily's independence and strong will it became a little too much how Colin had no issues with her galavanting around, arranging meetings with dangerous men, etc. I still love the series and plan on reading the rest of the books.
Are you a fan of mysteries or of Historical Fiction? If you've loved the Lady Julia Gray books by Deanna Rayborne, or the Lady Darby books by Anna Lee Huber, here's another thoroughly enjoyable series in the same genre. Lady Emily is a widow who enjoys the freedom of being as independent as a woman of means could be back in the late 1800's. She falls into situations where there's a murder mystery to be solved. There's danger and a handsome close friend of Her deceased husband who discretely handles inquiries for Queen Victoria. They fall for each other while investigating the murders. I this third book they finally marry. I'm not as sold on book 4, as Emily seems to have had a personality transplant and is not as, strong, or mineable and well-mannered as in the first three. Give the first 3 books a try--you'll enjoy them!
This is the third book in the Lady Emily Ashton series. Emily has been invited to a country house party by her friend Ivy that is being held by Lord Fortescue, her husband's mentor. Unfortunately for Emily, Lord Fortescue dislikes her and is bound and determined to break up her engagement to Colin. Complicating matters at the party is the presence of an Austrian countess who has a past with Colin. When a death occurs at the estate and Ivy's husband is implicated, Emily begins to investigate the murder and ends up in Austria searching for clues. She also is worried about Colin both from the threat of deadly force and for his feelings for the Countess. Emily must solve the mystery before someone else dies and her own life is at stake. I enjoyed the mystery and the time spent in Austria, which appeared to be well researched. It was a good addition to the series.
